Leaning Tower of Pisa |
The Torre Pendente di Pisa was started to be built in 1173 and it took til 1350 to complete. The tower is a bell tower for the nearby Cathedral. During its construction the workers had to stop three times to fight wars. It is 55.86 metres high from the lowest side and 56.70 from the highest. In 2001 builders straightened it up by 16 inches.
The top looked like Lego and I don't understand why it doesn't fall down.

Normandy Landings |
On 6th June 2001 we were on the beach at Ouistreham near Caen where there were lots of old men with medals on some of them were crying. On 27th February 2006 we are back, now I am 9. We have been playing on the beach.
We have been to Pegasus bridge where lots of brave pilots landed in gliders on 6th June 1944.

We have been to the Peace Memorial in Caen which is telling us we must have peace not war.

It was the British, Americans, Polish and lots of others who bravely came in ships and planes
to save the world from Adolf Hitler.
I can't believe that the beach we have been playing on was the dying place of so many people.

Trafalgar |
We went to Trafalgar square in London & we saw Lord Nelson's statue. The pigeons were more fun.
We went to Portsmouth and saw Admiral Lord Nelson's ship, Victory. It was very interesting especially the place where he died!
Later we went to Gibralter & found a graveyard with headstones from the sailors who were killed in the battle of Trafalgar.
We went to the beach Cabo De Trafalgar near where the battle took place. There were no signs there because the Spanish and the French had lost.
1805 was a long long time ago.
